FORENSIC TEXTS

"Principles of Kinesic Interview and Interrogation"
Stan B. Walters
(1996)
***
Several users have asked me about the police 'Kinesic Interview' ... Briefly the 'Kinesic Interview' is a technique that is growing in usage during criminal investigations.  The basis of the technique is the observation of a suspects non-verbal behaviour, so that the interviewer can focus on certain questions and detect lying.  This book, by Stan B. Walters, is one of the best introductions to the procedure that I could find.  This book is published by the 'CRC' Press, whom are the leading publisher of forensic texts.

A MIKES TOP PICK!

Though this book is somewhat dated (1980's) it is a very useful introduction for those interested in learning about all of a Psychologists potential roles in Criminal Law.  Chapters include Psychology and Criminal Justice, Psychology of Policework, Psychology of the Courtroom, Psychology of Corrections, Criminal Responsibility Assessment, Offender perspectives and developmental theories, treatment and offender definition etc..  This book is very much like an introductory textbook in Forensic Psychology.  A good choice if you want a all encompassing overview of the field.
